By creating an account or using Ownly Academy, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use Ownly Academy. Accounts are for adults: parents, legal guardians, tutors, and other authorized adults managing homeschool records. If you use the service on behalf of a household, school, co-op, or organization, you represent that you have authority to do so.
Children and students do not receive accounts or login credentials. Student profiles are records created and managed by the adult account holders, as described in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
The person who created the workspace is its owner. The owner alone can export the whole workspace, delete it, and decide what each other member is allowed to see. Anyone else you invite — a co-parent, a tutor — has only the access the owner grants them.
You can end your account yourself, at any time, from Settings. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone, so export your records first; what happens to your data afterwards is set out in sections 13 to 15 of the Privacy Policy.
You agree not to upload, store, or share content that is illegal, including any sexual content involving minors (CSAM), which we report to the authorities as required by law.
You agree not to upload, store, or share content that is sexually explicit, pornographic, obscene, violent, self-harm related, harassing, hateful, defamatory, abusive, or invasive of another person's privacy.
You agree not to upload, store, or share content that infringes someone else's intellectual property rights, contains malware, disrupts the service, probes the service, or attempts to gain unauthorized access.
Uploading prohibited content may result in immediate removal of the content and suspension or permanent termination of your account.
You retain ownership of the homeschool records, student records, notes, uploads, portfolio evidence, and other content you add to Ownly Academy.
You grant us a limited license to store, process, display, back up, and transmit your content solely to operate the service for you, including the AI-assisted features you have turned on. The license goes no further than that: we do not use your content to train anything, to advertise, or for any purpose of our own.
You are responsible for the content you upload and represent that you have the right to upload it, including any student information, images, documents, or records.
Ownly Academy is designed for parents, guardians, educators, and authorized household members to manage homeschool records. You are responsible for ensuring that student information is entered, shared, and retained in compliance with laws that apply to your household, school, or jurisdiction.
Uploads are checked for size, declared type, and file signature, and documents are delivered as attachments rather than executed inside the app. We do not currently run content classification, image matching, or malware scanning, so enforcement of the content rules remains reactive and you remain responsible for everything stored through your account.
When something is reported to us, when law enforcement contacts us, or when we encounter a problem while providing support, we may review the content involved, remove it, and suspend or terminate the account responsible, with or without notice. We may also preserve and disclose content where required by law or to protect safety, security, or the integrity of the service. If we ever begin automated screening, we will say so in the Privacy Policy before it starts.
Paid plans are billed through Stripe or another payment provider on a recurring basis until canceled. Prices, limits, and features are described at checkout and in the app. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.
Ownly Academy provides tools for planning, tracking, and organizing homeschool information. We do not provide legal, tax, education, or compliance advice. You are responsible for confirming that your records satisfy the requirements of your state, province, country, district, umbrella school, charter program, or other applicable authority.
Two features use AI, and both are off until an adult in your household turns them on: the assistant you can ask questions, and receipt scanning that pre-fills an expense from a photo. Nothing else in the app is AI-driven.
Both can be wrong. An assistant answer may be incomplete or mistaken, and a scanned receipt may misread a vendor, date, or amount. Review important records, reports, lesson data, attendance logs, and compliance information yourself before relying on them.
Ownly Academy is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or that generated reports will satisfy any specific legal or administrative requirement.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ownly Academy is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, records, profits, or business opportunities arising from your use of the service.
You agree to indemnify and hold Ownly Academy harmless from claims arising out of your content, your homeschool records, your violation of these Terms, or your misuse of the service.
These Terms are governed by applicable law and any agreement presented when you create an account, subscribe, or use the service.
We may update these Terms and will revise the version above. Material changes may require you to re-accept before continuing to use Ownly Academy.
